^ This. It would be possible to block small attacks via iptables or something similiar, but a big DDoS attack can only be prevented by hardware.

I'm well aware that MTA has a built-in anticheat.
I don't think there is anything open:mp team could do to about ddos attacks, but you could, depending on your host provider and networking skills :)
